Wayne Lachut of Amherst, N.Y., is serving his second year as a member of the Boards of Directors for Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children®. He was elected Imperial Captain of the Guard, part of the 13-member body that helps govern the Shriners fraternity, during the Shriners’ 2011 Imperial Session – held in Denver July 3-7.
Lachut is a lifelong resident of the Buffalo, N.Y., area. He retired from the Town of Amherst Engineering Dept at the age of 40. Currently, he is a broker/owner with McMahon Insurance Agency, a member of the EMS Group. He is also a managing partner of Highland Plaza Management Inc., a holding company for commercial and residential property.
Lachut is a member of Livingstone Lodge #255, Colden NY. He is also member of the Scottish Rite and the York Rite. He joined Ismailia Shriners in 1981 and served as Potentate in 2000. He was president of the New York Ontario Shrine Association in 2005-2006. Lachut is a past Chairman of the Board of Governors of Shriners Hospitals for Children – Erie and is currently serving as an emeritus member.
Lachut enjoys golf, spending time at his cottage and collecting antiques. He and his wife, Janet, have two sons who are active Shriners.
