Our Mission

Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Boston, is a 30-bed pediatric burn hospital, and research and teaching center. Our family-centered approach to care is designed to support the whole family during the acute and reconstructive phases of a child’s injury. Located in the heart of Boston, our hospital treats children from all over New England and around
the world, and has unique relationships with some of the top hospitals and universities in
the world.

  • Affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School
  • Accredited by the Joint Commission
  • The only verified pediatric burn center in New England certified by the American Burn Association
  • Admits more than 1,000 children each year and see more than 6,500 children in our outpatient clinic annually
  • Treats children from all over the United States, as well as 70 countries across the globe
  • Conducts research in areas like skin replacement technology, metabolic response to burn injuries, and the development of novel therapies, diagnostics and devices through bioengineering
  • Recipient of the Press Ganey Summit Award for five consecutive years for Patient Satisfaction in the Outpatient Department
