Social Workers

Social workers at Shriners Hospitals for Children® fully understand the stress that hospitalization, illness or injury can have on your child and the entire family. Our clinical social workers are available to you and your child, and can help answer the many questions you have about your experience at the hospital, procedures your child may undergo, and how to coordinate care at home.

Social workers can assist you with:

  • Your child and family’s mental health status such as coping, including arranging consult with in-house psychologist and conducting family meetings when appropriate
  • Social work assessments for patients and families
  • School reintegration for acute injuries
  • Transition services to children 14 and older
  • Completing Medicaid and other insurance paperwork for both inpatients and outpatients
  • Coordination of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) appointments and associated paperwork, including Medicaid
  • Ordering equipment and medical staffing for home, such as nursing and occupational and physical therapy
