Our Mission

Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Honolulu is a 24-bed pediatric orthopaedic hospital, providing care for children with bone, joint and neuromuscular conditions in Hawaii and throughout the Asia/Pacific region. The Honolulu hospital serves a geographic area larger than the continental United States, sharing its aloha spirit to children from such locations as American Samoa, Chuuk, Fiji, Guam, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Saipan.

The newly constructed Honolulu hospital, completed in August 2010, has a multi-cultural, family-centered approach to care. The149,000 square foot-facility includes a 10-unit, onsite family center that accommodates neighbor island and international patients and their parent or legal guardian when they come to Honolulu.

Shriners Hospitals for Children has a mission to:

  • Provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.
  • Provide for the education of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families.
