Pre-op Education Video

If your child is having a surgery and you would like to know what will happen during your stay watch this video. The Pre-op Education video will give you information about what happens before and after surgery. This video is appropriate for all adults and children ages 7 and up. A medical play session is also available with Child Life/Recreational Therapy staff. During this session children ages 3 and up can play with real medical equipment with a staff person to help reduce anxiety and answer any questions. The child can become familiar with these items in a fun environment. To set up this class please call 314-432-3600 ext. 1155.

We realize your presence during your child’s stay at the hospital is very reassuring, so we encourage one parent/guardian to stay at the bedside. We provide a single cot, bed linens and shower facilities for the parent staying.

For other family members who would like to stay close to the hospital during your child’s hospitalization, your care coordinator can answer any questions you may have about housing and applicable discounts in the area.

Cafeteria

Our cafeteria serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and is open to our patients and families. Snacks, beverages, sandwiches, salads and desserts are available throughout the day at reasonable prices.

To have a meal with your child, you may purchase your meal in the cafeteria and bring it to your child’s room. If your child is able, you may bring your child with you to the cafeteria. Please let the nursing staff know if you are interested in doing this.

Please note that the cafeteria accepts cash only, however, there is an ATM located accross the hall from the cafeteria.
