Perry Schoenecker Named Distinguished Clinician

Perry L. Schoenecker M.D., chief of staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children® — St. Louis, has been selected as a recipient of a 2012 Distinguished Faculty Award from Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Schoenecker will receive the Distinguished Clinician Award at a ceremony later this year. He was nominated as a result of his local, regional and national reputation for medical expertise and clinical excellence; advocacy, devotion and compassion for patients; collegiality and respect for peers, referring physicians and clinical support staff; and for his leadership positions in professional societies.

“I am greatly honored and encouraged by the award," Dr. Schoenecker said. "The culture of Shriners Hospitals for Children is so very helpful in providing the opportunity for Washington University faculty such as me to teach both in the operating room and in our clinics. I’d like to thank the hospital leadership for its longstanding unconditional support in our efforts both in patient care and staff education. I consider this a team award.”

Co-sponsored by the Washington University School of Medicine dean’s office, the Office of Faculty Affairs, Central Administration and the Executive Committee of the Faculty Council, the Distinguished Faculty Awards were created to recognize outstanding achievements in clinical care, community service, research and teaching.
