Eric C. Liao, M.D., Ph.D.

Eric C. Liao, M.D., Ph.D., is the director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Center, a collaboration between Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston and MassGeneral Hospital for Children. He is an assistant professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Plastic Surgery Residency Program site director at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also serves as the deputy director of research at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston and directs research as the principal investigator of his laboratory at the Center for Regenerative Medicine. He is a principal faculty of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute.

Dr. Liao is a graduate of Stanford University (BS, MS), Harvard Medical School / M.I.T. (M.D., Ph.D.), and trained in plastic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Liao's clinical and academic achievements have earned numerous prestigious awards, including American Surgical Association Fellowship, Basil O'Connor Scholar Award and Massachusetts General Hospital’s Cancer Center One Hundred Honoree.

At the Boston Shriners Hospital, Dr. Liao focuses on pediatric reconstruction for children who have sustained burn injury; repair of cleft lip and palate, and other congenital malformations, and general pediatric surgery (otoplasty, gynecomastia, vascular anomalies).
