Teresa Cappello, M.D.

Teresa Cappello, M.D.

Teresa Cappello, M.D., is a board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago. Dr. Cappello brings over 20 years of medical practice experience to our pediatric orthopaedic program. She most recently worked as a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Loyola University Medical Center in suburban Chicago. While at Loyola, she served in leadership roles in the outpatient center and in the Stritch School of Medicine. In her previous positions, she directed the serial casting program at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, and was medical director of the motion analysis center and serial casting program at St. Joseph Children’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

At Shriners Hospitals, she specializes in pediatric orthopaedic conditions such as club feet, flatfeet, intoeing, out-toeing, knock knees, leg length discrepancy, hip dysplasia, and stable arm and leg fractures.

Dr. Cappello is the recipient of research grants, has published articles and continues to write research articles on a variety of pediatric orthopaedic conditions. Some of these article topics include healing of broken arms in children, effects of obesity on orthopaedic fracture outcomes, use of anti-inflammatory medicines and its effect on fracture healing, and decreasing the number of X-rays needed to treat pediatric fractures.

Dr. Cappello is a member of many professional societies and has served in committee roles for the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.

She is a mother of two and originally from Maryland.
