Here for you

Here for you

It is our mission to care for children, and we appreciate the trust you place in us, now more than ever. The health and safety of our patients, families and employees remain our top priority. Following the guidance of local and national public health and government recommendations, we are working to create a new normal during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safety first
We have adopted new procedures and policies for your safety, from extra cleaning and sanitizing to requiring masks throughout our facility. Jamie, a child life specialist, has a tour with more details of what to expect if you come to the hospital or clinic:

We are proud of our commitment to family-centered care. For now, however, that will look a little different. We are limiting people in our building. The policy for outpatient clinic visits including the pediatric orthotic and prosthetics department, motion analysis center and rehabilitation therapy appointments is as follows:

  • New and first time visits: Two adults may accompany the patient with prior permission.
  • For existing patient visits: One adult may accompany the patient.
  • No siblings are permitted unless the sibling is over 18 and is the primary caregiver for the patient.

We've also updated our surgery procedures for your safety. All surgical patients are required to be tested for COVID-19. Two adults may accompany the patient on surgery day until visiting hours are over. If the child requires staying overnight, only one adult may stay with the child. No additional visitors are permitted.

Appointments available in person or online

As a reminder, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago doesn’t treat COVID-19. If your child is experiencing possible coronavirus symptoms, please contact your pediatrician for instructions.

We remain focused on providing your child’s specialty medical care. Please call 773-385-5437 (KIDS) to request an appointment. We recognize some families will feel more comfortable continuing to quarantine at home or limit travel. We’re pleased to offer Fast Track Video Visits using telehealth. Ask your doctor if telehealth appointments might be the right choice for your family.

Now more than ever, we are committed to our mission to provide care regardless of families’ ability to pay. Feel free to ask for information anytime during your visit or throughout the billing process.
