The Chicago Tribune names Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago a winner of the Chicago area 2018 Top Workplaces award

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago has been awarded a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by the Chicago Tribune. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by their research partner Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection.

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago is a 60-bed pediatric specialty care facility on Chicago’s far west side, just north of Oak Park. With a staff of 295 employees, the Chicago Shriners Hospital provides care for children with orthopaedic, spine and craniofacial conditions. Staff members mentioned on the Top Workplaces survey that their workplace has strong core values, they appreciate the opportunity to do meaningful work and they feel genuinely appreciated at the Chicago Shriners Hospital.

“Being named a Top Workplace speaks strongly of the work-place environment that we all help to create. As a midsize employer, we ranked 45th overall, and an impressive sixth in nonprofits and second in the health care category. I am honored, especially because the judges were our employees!” said Mark Niederpruem, the Chicago Shriners Hospital administrator.

“Top Workplaces is more than just recognition,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “Our research shows organizations that earn the award attract better talent, experience lower turnover and are better equipped to deliver bottom-line results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”

“Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something organizations can buy,” Claffey said. “It’s an achievement organizations have worked for and a distinction that gives them a competitive advantage. It’s a big deal.”
