Shriners Hospitals for Children — Cincinnati once again earns designation as Cleft Palate Team by ACPA

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Cincinnati is pleased to announce that the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) has renewed its five-year designation as a Cleft Palate Team.

Facial clefts are among the most common birth defects, occurring in one of every 600 births in the United States. Clefts of the lip and palate (CLP) occur when these sections do not completely fuse during pregnancy. A child with CLP will require ongoing care that includes plastic surgeons, audiologists, speech language pathologists, dentists and orthodontists as well as psychologists and social work care managers. The ACPA designation indicates that the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital is proficient in providing this consistent care for its patients.

“This designation is the result of the hard work of our multidisciplinary team members, each of whom is committed to addressing the physical, psychological and developmental needs of our patients; we are grateful for this public recognition,” said Kathy Zaeske, director of patient care services.

A physician referral is not required at the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital. To make an appointment, contact the hospital at 855-206-2096 or via email.
