Sharing our expertise

Whether you’re a medical or nursing student, a specialized clinician or a medical professional looking for educational materials, there is no better place to learn than Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Become a Superhero of Summer Safety

Summer is a time of playground fun, swimming, boating, biking, camping and other outdoor activities. Unfortunately, these activities can lead to a higher risk of injuries.

Shriners Hospitals for Children wants to reduce the risk of childhood injuries by asking everyone to become Superheroes of Summer Safety.

Burn awareness

Be Burn Aware is our year-round campaign to help keep children safe from burn injuries, especially at home. The campaign includes activity books for children, information on basic home safety for adults and educational videos for the entire family.

Understanding scoliosis

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that affects an estimated 6–9 million people in the U.S., and millions more worldwide. As there is often no known cause for scoliosis, early detection is the best way to prevent curve progression. The orthopaedic specialists at Shriners Hospitals for Children developed a new app – SpineScreen, which detects curves when the phone is moved along a child’s back, to give parents a quick way to routinely monitor their child’s spine health.

Please read further to learn more about scoliosis, treatment options available and how you can download the free SpineScreen app.

It's time to #CutTheBull

Did you know that kids with physical disabilities are twice as likely to be bullied? Shriners Hospitals for Children has joined actor, former patient and Love to the rescue ambassador RJ Mitte, in spreading the word about the effects of bullying and how we can create a more positive environment to support our kids.

Spinal cord injury awareness

There are 12,000 new cases of spinal cord injury (SCI) in the U.S. each year. Approximately 10 percent affect children under the age of 16. By increasing awareness and taking precautions, many of these accidents and the resulting spinal cord injuries can be prevented.
