James A. “Jim” Doel of Perth, Ontario, Canada, is currently serving his second three-year term on the Shriners Hospitals for Children® Board of Trustees. He was elected during the Shriners’ 2017 Imperial Session held in Daytona Beach, Florida, July 9 – July 13.
Doel was raised a Master Mason in True Britons Lodge #14 in Perth, Ontario, and joined Tunis Shriners in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1996. Appointed to the Divan in 2000, Doel served the temple in the requisite offices and was Potentate in 2009. Doel was appointed to the Board of Governors of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston in 2010, and has served as Chairman of the Public Relations, Donor Development and Hospital Day Committees. Doel was also a member of the Risk Management, Strategic Planning, Performance Improvement, Nominating and Research and Grants Committees. Doel also represented the Boston Shriners Hospital on the Imperial Donor Relations Committee.
As a Trustee, Doel is currently serving as Hospital Liaison for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Philadelphia. He also serves as Chairman of the Follow up Clinics and Tele-health Committee and Hospital Regulations Committee, and as a member of the Affiliation Evaluation, Budget, Medical Affairs and Hospital Operations Committees. He has also served as Hospital Liaison to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville, and as a member of the Information Technology and Hospital Regulations Committees. He is also currently a member of the East West Shrine Game and Motorsports committees.
In addition to his involvement with Shriners International, Doel is a past director of Ottawa Court #185, Royal Order of Jesters, and has served as the organization’s Treasurer. He is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and serves as Vice President of Jesters on Wheels.
Doel is the Founder and past C.E.O. of Jade Transportation Services in Perth, Ontario, and has been in the transportation management industry for more than 30 years. Although now retired from business, he still serves as a member of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management, as well as a committee member on the Level VI RAM Subcommittee of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
Doel and his wife, Lyn, have been married for more than 30 years. They have one daughter, Kimberlee.
