Richard "Rick" Williams of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is currently serving his first three-year term on the Shriners Hospitals for Children® Board of Trustees. He was elected during the Shriners’ 2015 Imperial Session held in Houston July 5 - July 9.
Williams became a member of Doric Lodge #342 in Grand Rapids in 1999 and joined Saladin Shriners in Grand Rapids in 2000. At the time, he was a college student and wanted to help drive patients to the Shriners Hospital in Chicago. He still has a bracelet that was made for him by the first patient he transported. Williams became the Recorder of Saladin Shriners three years ago because he felt it was the best opportunity for him to contribute to his temple. Working with a team of young Shriners, Williams helped take Saladin Shriners from a 95-person loss to Gold Membership Status (positive growth) in one year.
Professionally, Williams works as a consultant for biotech companies. He focuses on assisting them in identifying and bringing emerging technology to market. He also commits a significant amount of time to advancing the evolution of our Shriners fraternity and philanthropy.
Williams served in the United States Army during the Global War on Terrorism. He left the Army as a Captain after serving in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He has stayed active in veteran's causes through the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
In addition to a Juris Doctor degree, Williams has earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance, a Masters of Public Administration degree in Public and Non-Profit Administration, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences.
Williams’ lady, Hannah Reynolds, is a third year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys assisting veterans, studying Masonic history, and preparing for his next adventure.
