The healing process is enhanced by the support of family and friends. All visitors must check-in at the security desk in the hospital lobby where they will record their destination and be given a visitor’s badge. Our hospital strives to maintain the highest level of patient care, professionalism, cleanliness and safety standards. In order to do so, we require these guidelines be followed:
As space permits, one parent per patient may stay overnight in their child's room. Parents are encouraged to discuss among themselves who will sleep in the room. Priority should be given to parents whose child just returned from surgery or parents who are providing child's care. Chairs/cots are provided at bedside. The rooming-in parent is to be on campus by 7 p.m. and have a hospital-issued parent identification bracelet. A shower room is available.
We do not allow sleeping in a vehicle that is parked overnight in our parking area or sleeping in any other area of the hospital.
For medical reasons, visitors should not give food or drink to any patient unless they have received permission from the nurse. Food brought in must be checked first by a nurse and should be store bought. No food or drink may be left in the patient's room. Take leftovers with you or they will be discarded. Visitors may not eat in the unit.
Gifts are limited to small, inexpensive items. The hospital is not responsible for lost belongings. For safety reasons, do not bring suckers, hard candy, nuts, gum or rubber balloons.
Hospital phones are used by hospital staff and therefore, patient and parent use of phones is limited. We take messages only in emergencies. Please ask which phones may be used for long distance (collect and calling card) calls.
All DVDs brought in for your child's use must be age appropriate for viewing. Check with the charge nurse if there are any questions. Televisions are for your child's viewing and channels selected must be age appropriate for them. Loud music is not allowed. It is preferred that radios have earphones.
Smoking is not permitted on hospital property.
No photographs of other patients may be taken.
The hospital has rules to make every patient's stay comfortable. We enforce these rules and have guidelines for doing so. The nurses are always available to discuss these issues or answer your questions.
Possession and/or use of alcoholic beverages or drugs is not permitted.
Aggressive behavior directed toward persons and property is not acceptable.
