Enhancing education

In following the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Philadelphia, we provide education for physicians and other health care professionals. This includes, but is not limited to, hosting residents and fellows from local and distant universities to perform orthopaedic and spine clinical rotations. In addition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthotics and prosthetics, child life, music therapy, respiratory, radiology, social services, nursing and advance practice nurse students (CRNAs and NP students) complete their pediatric clinical rotation under the guidance of the professional health care staff.

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Philadelphia hosts radiology students from Universidad Central Del Caribe, Puerto Rico for a four-week clinical rotation. The students come to the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital with the purpose of understanding an established health care system to bring critical knowledge back to their state. These students later assist us with our Puerto Rico outreach clinics in the radiology department, which adds to our consistency of care.
