Research indicates that the earlier a child is referred to our hospital, the more positive and significant the long-term outcome can be for that child.
If your child has a condition that Shriners Hospitals for Children — Tampa treats, please contact our patient access department to schedule an appointment. Your representative will partner with you to gather the necessary information to allow our physician leadership to evaluate whether your child can benefit from care at the Tampa Shriners Hospital. Please call 813-866-7740.
If your child is not a first-time patient at the Tampa Shriners Hospital and you want to schedule, reschedule or cancel a follow-up clinic appointment, or for questions about registration, please call 813-975-7106.
If you have questions about your scheduled surgery or the admission process, please call 813-975-7102.
Please notify us within three weeks of your surgery admission date if your child experiences symptoms of infectious illness including fever, cough, rash, vomiting, diarrhea or any suspected/known exposure to chicken pox, measles or any other contagious disease/condition.
A pre-admission visit will be set up when your child’s surgery is scheduled. If for some reason you find it necessary to cancel the admission, please let the admissions nurse know as soon as possible.
We will try our best to make your child’s stay with us as stress free as possible, beginning at the time of your arrival. Please plan to arrive at the time designated on your admission notice. You will be met by the admission nurse and nurse practitioner, who will review your child’s health history. Although the health history review may seem repetitive, your answers help us provide your child with the best care possible.
Each patient is assigned a nurse to care for him or her. The nurse will show you and your child around the floor and hospital. You may have many questions about the hospital, your child’s appointment/surgery and the care that your child will be receiving. The nursing staff is always available to provide you with the information you need.
