Fracture care

Pediatric specialists providing prompt care for orthopaedic injuries

As part of the specialized services offered for children with orthopaedic conditions, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Erie provides care to children with fractures (broken bones). Our pediatric orthopaedic and upper extremity physicians and advanced practice providers are highly experienced and offer prompt care for children who have experienced a fracture and have received or do not need emergency treatment.

Our fracture team offers comprehensive care for the treatment of fractures, providing services that, depending on the injury, may include:

  • Closed reduction
  • Casting
  • Surgery
  • Post-fracture follow up
  • Rehabilitation as needed

Patients with fractures must first be seen by their pediatrician/physician, local urgent care center or emergency room. Your physician can then arrange an appointment through our fracture referral process. Our medical center does not offer emergency room or urgent care services.

Same or next day appointments

Same or next day appointments are provided for the majority of our patients. For physicians referring patients for fracture care, please call our referral line to schedule an appointment. Please remember to bring all relevant X-rays and imaging to the appointment. If X-rays are not available or not brought to the appointment, imaging services are available at our medical center.

Fracture care appointments for new patients are available 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Friday, excluding holidays. To make an appointment, please call: 814-875-8866
