Shriners Awareness Day to feature “Shriners Kids Got Talent” show

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Galveston will host a Shriners Awareness Day on Tuesday, April 30, welcoming everyone to come and learn about the hospital, meet past and present patients, and enjoy a special Shriners Kids Got Talent show starring our current patient ambassadors and recent America’s Got Talent – The Champions finalist – Kechi!

Check in for the event will begin at 7:15 a.m., with the day’s program officially starting at 8:30. Attendees will hear from the Galveston Shriners Hospital Chairman of the Board Gary Martin and Hospital Administrator Mary Jaco. In addition, Galveston’s chief of staff and current American Burn Association President, Steven E. Wolf, M.D., will provide information about the acute burn care that is provided at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Galveston. An overview of reconstructive care will follow, presented by Ludwik Branski, M.D.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with patients and their families by engaging in fun activities during the day. Former patient Cory Keen will impart his inspiring story of burn survival and recovery. Additionally, several patient ambassadors will speak about their care at the Galveston Shriners Hospital and how the dedication of the Shriners fraternity has made a lasting impact on their lives.
