T. Whitney Gibson, D.O.

T. Whitney Gibson, D.O., made medical history in 2010 when he performed a successful arthroscopic hip surgery on a 4-month-old child – the youngest patient at that time to undergo the procedure. A West Point graduate and veteran, Dr. Gibson is an expert in sports medicine who is highly skilled in the repair of shoulders and knees in growing children; he utilizes the physeal - sparing approach to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair. In addition to pediatric sports medicine and injury care, Dr. Gibson’s interests include club feet, limb-length discrepancies and lower limb deformities.

Dr. Gibson served as chief of pediatric orthopaedics at Eisenhower Army Medical Center before his retirement from the military in 2008; it was then that he followed his passion for “helping children defy the odds” to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville. Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Gibson is the recipient of numerous academic awards and honors and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Gibson enjoys participating in outdoor sports and activities. He and wife, Mary, have two children.
