T. Whitney Gibson, D.O.

T. Whitney Gibson, D.O., made medical history in 2010 when he performed a successful arthroscopic hip surgery on a 4-month-old child – the youngest patient at that time to undergo the procedure. A West Point graduate and veteran, Dr. Gibson is an expert in sports medicine who is highly skilled in the repair of shoulders and knees in growing children; he utilizes the physeal - sparing approach to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair. In addition to pediatric sports medicine and injury care, Dr. Gibson’s interests include club feet, limb-length discrepancies and lower limb deformities.

Dr. Gibson served as chief of pediatric orthopaedics at Eisenhower Army Medical Center before his retirement from the military in 2008; it was then that he followed his passion for “helping children defy the odds” to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville. Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Gibson is the recipient of numerous academic awards and honors and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
