A new year brings about a new tradition at the Greenville Shriners Hospital

"Randy's Celebration Bell"

A new year brings about a new tradition at the Greenville Shriners Hospital

“Randy’s Celebration Bell” will now ring out at as an acknowledgment of major milestones and successes. Whether we are recognizing the first time a 10-year-old has taken steps on his own or honoring a 21-year-old patient who is receiving her last prosthetic, our hope is that each time the celebration bell rings – we will all recognize its meaningful sound.

The vision came from former Greenville Shriners Hospital administrator Randy Romberger after he witnessed a similar ceremony during his recent cancer treatment – and made it a reality. Now, all employees, patients, families and visitors of Greenville Shriners Hospital are invited to be a part of these celebratory occasions.

The bell will ring for any of the following five reasons:

  • Last appointment
  • Last Mehta cast
  • First steps
  • Last surgery in a series
  • Major milestone, as defined by a hospital employee

“Randy’s Celebration Bell” is a wonderful way to bring us all together to witness first-hand the miracles achieved by our patients, and to cheer for the victories we work toward each day.
