Bill Munley named new administrator for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville

Bill Munley has been named administrator of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville, bringing over three decades of local health care experience to South Carolina’s only freestanding pediatric hospital.

“The mission of Greenville Shriners Hospital is beyond compare, and I am honored to serve as the next administrator,” said Mr. Munley. “For the past 30 years, I’ve worked in a local hospital system, which has allowed me to form relationships both within the immediate health care community, as well as Greenville, in general. My goal is to use this experience and familiarization to further the hospital’s mission.”

Greenville Shriners Hospital’s mission is to provide treatment to children with over 85 different orthopaedic conditions, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

As administrator, Mr. Munley will provide direction, advice and oversight to department leadership, as well as spearhead the hospital’s collaborative executive leadership team. Serving as a thought leader and seeking high performance across all care categories, Mr. Munley is also charged with operational strategies, achieving fiscal goals, establishing best practices and driving cross-hospital synergies. Previously, Mr. Munley served as vice president, orthopaedics, general surgery and professional services at Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. There, he was responsible for both inpatient and outpatient surgeries, as well as rehabilitation for all orthopaedic services.

“We were immediately impressed by Bill’s commitment to excellence, as well as his proven experience in orthopaedics and the greater health care arena,” said Ron Mitchum, chairman, Board of Governors. “There was a consensus of immediate confidence in Bill as a leader. We are looking forward to his meaningful contributions to this organization – devoted to the well-being of all children.”

Mr. Munley will report to the hospital’s Board of Governors, and is the eighth administrator in the hospital’s 90-year history.
