Chloe stays active after hip surgery

Swimming, tennis, dancing and cartwheels are all part of 8-year-old Chloe’s everyday world thanks to the excellent treatment she received at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville.

Chloe was born with bi-lateral hip dysplasia, a misalignment of the hip joints. Her treatment journey began at 3-days-old when she was placed in a Pavlik harness – a brace commonly used for infants – for three months. At age 7, surgical intervention was required and Chloe underwent bi-lateral Dega osteotomy.

“If it wasn’t corrected as a child, she faced hip replacements as an adult and more limitations in her mobility,” said her mother Melissa. “As a child, my legs were bowed from the knee to the ankle and I was a Shriners Hospitals patient. I knew they had Chloe’s best interest in mind and wanted the best outcome for her. Now she can do all the things she loves thanks to Shriners Hospitals for Children.”
