Fast Track Video Visits bring telehealth services to patients in six-state region

Fast Track Video Visits bring telehealth services to patients in six-state region

A newly formed, dedicated team of medical professionals at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville is bringing the hospital’s trusted care into the homes of children from all six states served by the pediatric orthopaedic hospital, thanks to Fast Track Video Visit technology making telehealth an often-utilized reality.

  • Fast Track Video Visits can be scheduled just as an in-person appointment would be, by calling 866-459-0013.
  • Fast Track Video Visits are available to patients in all states.
  • Fast Track Video Visits are offered regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

“While telehealth has been on our horizon for a while, the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated our efforts to bring our nurses and doctors straight to our patients,” said Hope Cummings, director, patient care services. “Both existing patients as well as new patients can take advantage of the service.”

The visit begins with a pre-call to the patient to establish audio and visual connectivity. Similar to an in-person visit, the patient’s first interaction will be with a nurse. A physician then connects to complete the visit.

“Our physicians love providing this service,” said Cummings. “It actually helps provide a more personalized visit. When the doctors are able to pay a virtual ‘house call,’ they are better able to understand the child’s environment and offer care even more tailored to each individual.”

Appointments with physician assistants and nurse practitioners will also be available; rehabilitation patients will benefit from a virtual visit with their occupational or physical therapist.

For patients in need of an X-ray, after a brief in-person visit to the radiology department – the remainder of the appointment can be completed remotely, via the Fast Track Video Visit.

Like all other services at the Greenville Shriners Hospital, telehealth visits are available regardless of a patient’s insurance status or ability to pay. Call 866-459-0013 to speak with an intake coordinator to learn if a Fast Track Video Visit is the best choice for your child.
