Weekend injury care clinic provides alternative to the emergency room

Weekend injury care clinic provides alternative to the emergency room

With hours filled with adventurous outdoor play, many families are finding they are in need of care for their child’s sprain, strain, fracture or other orthopaedic injury. However, in the age of COVID-19, those same families are looking for an alternative to the emergency room.

The injury care clinic staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville is ready to offer a safe option.

“For three weekends during the month of May, the Greenville Shriners Hospital’s injury care clinic is open on Saturdays and Sundays, in addition to our normal clinic Monday through Friday,” said Chief of Staff J. Michael Wattenbarger, M.D. “Providing the same comprehensive care we always have, patients will have access to X-ray, cast and orthotic services during a single visit. We know now, more than ever, being able to seek care under one roof is even more important.”

Appointments may be made in advance by calling 866-459-0013; walk-in appointments are also available. The clinic takes place May 2-3, May 9-10 and May 16-17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Weekend clinic dates may be extended, contingent upon demand.
