Our patients have a more positive clinical outcome if referred to us as soon as a need is identified.

24-hour pediatric injury care

We understand childhood injuries happen at all hours of the day, which is why we offer 24-hour pediatric injury care for children with bone, joint or muscle injuries. Services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week include treatment for conditions such as sprains and strains, fractures, broken bones and other minor sports- and play-related injuries.

Specialty services include reduction, realignment, surgery, casting, post-fracture follow-up and rehabilitative care, if needed. For more information, see our injury clinic page or call our main line at 808-941-4466.

First-time patients

If your child has a condition for which Shriners Hospitals for Children — Honolulu offers treatment, please contact our main line at 808-941-4466. An intake coordinator will help you schedule an appointment for your child. The coordinator will partner with you to gather the necessary information that will allow our physicians to evaluate whether your child can benefit from care at the Honolulu Shriners Hospital. Please review the conditions we treat.

Insurance: We accept children with or without insurance. If you have insurance, please have your health insurance information available when you call us. Please call our main line at 808-941-4466.

Outpatient clinic patients

If your child is not a first-time patient at the Honolulu Shriners Hospital and you want to schedule, reschedule or cancel a follow-up clinic appointment, or for questions about registration, please call our outpatient clinic at 808-951-3620.

Pre-admission visit

If you have a planned admission, you can expect a phone call from your care manager one to four weeks prior to your admission date. Your care manager will assist you with pre-admission and discharge planning. A pre-admission appointment will be scheduled. If for some reason you find it necessary to cancel the admission, please call your assigned care manager as soon as possible.

Surgery patients

If you have questions about your child’s scheduled surgery or the admission process, please call your assigned care manager or our admissions coordinator at 808-951-3623.


We will do our best to make your child’s stay with us as stress-free as possible, beginning at the time of your arrival. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the time designated on your admission notice. You will be met by the admission nurse who will perform a brief assessment before bringing you to our inpatient unit. Although some of our assessment questions and health history review may seem repetitive, your answers help us provide your child with the best care possible.

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we require all patients and family members receive a health screening upon arrival at the hospital. As a reminder, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Honolulu does not treat COVID-19. If your child is experiencing possible coronavirus symptoms, please contact your pediatrician for instructions.

Each patient is assigned a nurse to care for him or her. You may have many questions about the hospital, your child’s appointment/surgery and the care that your child will be receiving. The nursing staff is always available to provide you with the information you need.
