State-of-the-art technology allows for improved surgical interventions, such as viewing of surgery in real time from monitors outside the suite, picture archiving and communication system (PACS) interfaced and medical photography. The Honolulu Shriners Hospital is a teaching hospital so orthopaedic, pediatric and dental residents from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine receive training here, participating in both clinical and research rotations.
