Susan McDowell, M.D.

Susan McDowell, M.D.

Susan M. McDowell, M.D., is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center — Lexington and is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty certification in spinal cord injury medicine. She is the chair of the physical medicine and rehabilitation department at UK Healthcare and an associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of the Kentucky. She received an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Augusta College and earned a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. McDowell completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Kentucky.

Areas of special interest to Dr. McDowell include spinal cord injury, pediatric rehabilitation and spasticity management, including intrathecal pumps and botulinum toxin injections.

Dr. McDowell is a member of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine, American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, National Association of Spinal Cord Injury and International Spinal Cord Society.
