Vishwas Talwalkar, M.D.

Vishwas Talwalkar, M.D., is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center — Lexington and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is an associate professor of pediatric orthopaedic surgery and pediatrics at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Talwalkar has been a recipient of research awards from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and the resident teaching award from the University of Kentucky. He received an undergraduate degree from Murray State University and earned a medical degree from Washington University. Dr. Talwalkar completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt University and a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics and spine surgery at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Talwalkar include all aspects of pediatric orthopaedics, complex spinal deformity, clubfoot, injury prevention, limb deficiency, Perthes disease and scoliosis.

Dr. Talwalkar is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, Scoliosis Research Society, Association of Children’s Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinics, and American Academy of Pediatrics. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
