What kinds of donations make the largest impact?

What donations are Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities unable to accept?
Due to safety, allergy and immunity concerns of our patients, we are only able to accept new items. We are unable to accept the following items:

  • Used/previously played with toys, books, games or stuffed animals
  • Private collections of toys, books, games or stuffed animals that have never been played with, but have been stored away
  • Latex toys, games and balloons
  • Used medical equipment
  • Crocheted/knit blankets
  • Cards for patients
  • Homemade treats (cookies, cupcakes, bars, etc.)

My kids have outgrown their toys. Can I donate them to you?
We are unable to accept toys that have been previously played with or private collections that have been stored away for concerns of safety, allergy and immunity of our patients.

Can I donate stuffed animals?
Shriners Hospitals for Children – Twin Cities accepts only clean, new stuffed animals.

Where and when can I donate items?
Donations can be delivered to our hospital during the hours listed below. Please complete our donation form and bring it along when you deliver your donation.

You can also send your donations to us in the mail to our address. Be sure to include a completed donation form.

Can I deliver gifts directly to patients?
No. For the privacy and infection prevention of our patients, we do not allow community members or groups to deliver gifts directly to patients.

Can I donate books?
Yes, however, we only accept donations of new books. I like to knit/crochet. What knitted or crocheted items do you need most?
We are able to accept donations of knit hats, scarves, mittens, slippers and booties of all sizes during the fall/winter months. We are not able to accept knit or crocheted blankets.

Do you need blankets for patients?
Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities accepts fleece blankets as they are non-allergenic. Because of the generosity of many community members and groups, we have an overwhelming supply of fleece blankets and are not accepting any more at this time. Please check back as we will announce when we are in need of more fleece blankets. I would like to donate artwork.

What is your process?
We do accept donated artwork for the hospital that meets our standards. All artwork must go through an evaluation process to determine if we are able to accept it.
