Christopher S. Vara, M.D.

Christopher S. Vara, M.D., is a board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities. After graduating from the United States Military Academy and completing five years of service in the United States Army, he completed medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine and an orthopaedic residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center. He also completed an adult spine surgery fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital and a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at Primary Children's Hospital/Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Vara include cerebral palsy, hip dysplasia, early onset scoliosis, trauma, foot deformities, adolescent scoliosis, congenital scoliosis, and lower limb angular deformities. 

He is drawn to Shriners Hospitals for Children’s philosophy of caring for the "whole child", including social and emotional needs, as well as orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Vara believes that Shriners Hospitals for Children truly embodies a team centered approach to care.

Dr. Vara is a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
