Deborah L. Smith-Wright, M.D.

Deborah Smith-Wright, M.D., is the chief of pediatrics for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Twin Cities and holds a lifetime certification from the American Board of Pediatrics. She received an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Grinnell College in Iowa and a medical degree at the University of Kansas. Dr. Smith-Wright completed a pediatric internship and residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care at the University of Minnesota.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Smith-Wright include pre-operative evaluation of pediatric patients, care of pediatric inpatients and medical conditions associated with scoliosis, rickets and obesity.

Dr. Smith-Wright is a member of the following national boards and committees: pharmacy and therapeutics’ committee, of which she is the co-chair, medical management oversight committee, information services, care set committee, applied informatics, and a pediatric advisory board.

On the local level, Dr. Smith-Wright chairs both pharmacy and therapeutics’ committee and infection prevention committee. She is also a member of the emergency care committee, the medical records and utilization review committee, the secretary of the medical executive committee and member of the medical education committee.
