"Difficult Conversations: Helping Kids Cope with the Uncertainty of COVID-19"

Michelle Jones, MS, CCLS

During this time of uncertainty with coronavirus (COVID-19), we are all navigating our way through a new normal. Michelle Jones, child life specialist at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities, addresses how to have difficult conversations with kids about COVID-19. It is important to help kids find effective coping mechanisms and to acknowledge that we're all learning how to best educate our children about COVID-19.

In a recent video presentation titled Difficult Conversations: Helping Kids Cope with the Uncertainty of COVID-19, Michelle talks about how to:

  • Learn developmentally appropriate language to educate children about COVID-19
  • Foster understanding about COVID-19's impact on children's social, mental and physical well-being
  • Recognize your role as a parent/guardian in helping children cope effectively during this pandemic
  • Gain educational resources for children and adults in response to COVID-19
