Funds will support healing long after the Halloween season

Spirit of Children donates to Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities

Spirit of Children presented Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities’ child life department with a donation of $69,845 today at a check presentation ceremony. The funds will go toward making clinic visits easier for young patients and their families through non-medical treatment and healing play.

Proceeds were collected at local Twin Cities area Spirit Halloween stores, the Spirit Halloween website and from business partners. One hundred percent of local donations stay in the Twin Cities community.

To date, the Spirit of Children program has raised $344,518 for Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities’ child life department.

The grants provided by Spirit of Children bring smiles to the youngest of patients long after the Halloween season. They enable the child life staff to acquire the best tools, education and training. Additionally, funds will help purchase educational and entertainment items such as toys used for distraction during procedures.

The donation follows a fabulous in-clinic Halloween party for pediatric patients that was hosted by Spirit of Children in October of 2018. Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities patients enjoyed costumes, crafts and games. Nationwide, Spirit Halloween team members supplied more than 80,000 costumes, accessories, activities and décor items needed to host celebrations at 92 hospitals and clinics.
