2017 Wonder Race a huge success

Fundraising event raises $ 65,000!

2017 Wonder Race a huge success

What a wonderful day! On Friday, June 16, the thrilling Wonder Race took place in the heart of downtown Montreal. Built on the model of The Amazing Race, the contest pitted teams of young professionals from prestigious companies against each other. Through 10 stages, this exciting race tested the physical and intellectual abilities, and general knowledge of each teammate. Thank you to the 45 teams and all the volunteers who made it possible to raise $65,000 to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children — Canada. Funds were mainly raised through online donations and the generosity of the event sponsors.

Kickoff of the race took place at the Percival Molson Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m. At the start of the race, teams received a clue pointing them to their first destination, where they had to solve a problem as quickly as possible. When that task was complete, another clue directed the team to its next destination, and so on, until the 10 scheduled events were completed. Participants experienced five hours of challenges with many twists and turns before crossing the finish line.

By supporting the race, businesses and the public are helping Shriners Hospitals for Children — Canada offer first-line and ultra-specialized orthopaedic care to children with a variety of complex conditions, including brittle bone disease.

Members of the organizing committee, including Olympic medalist Joannie Rochette, are young professionals who share a passion for philanthropy. Three years ago, this new generation of fundraising leaders created the Wonder Race to support worthy causes in the health sector.
