Support services

At Shriners Hospitals for Children — Canada, care is focused on the child and family. In addition to high-quality medical care, we have the following support services.

Play areas

Patients are scheduled for play as part of their daily routine. Structured and unstructured activities take place in the hospital each day. Therapeutic recreation and child life specialists supervise activities that include everything from cards and video games to special performances, such as magic shows. The therapeutic play area is equipped with toys, board games, video games and puzzles for a variety of ages and developmental stages. Volunteers and staff from our child life department facilitate daily activities.

Rest area for parents of hospitalized children

The healing garden is located on the fourth floor next to the family room. It is a quiet place for family members to relax.
