As a volunteer, you are an important part of our team. You can help extend our services and help provide a positive experience for our patients and their families.

It is fulfilling for us all to be able to help patients have a successful hospital visit. Your enthusiasm, smile, cooperation and assistance will help to ensure the smooth operation of our hospital. We hope that, as a volunteer, you will find your work at the Canada Shriners Hospital rewarding.

Volunteer requirements:

  • Must be 17 years of age
  • Fluently bilingual
  • Must not be presently treated at the Canada Shriners Hospital
  • Must have experience with children
  • Must satisfy requirements in the interview process
  • Must satisfy health requirements and immunization policy of staff health office
  • Must not be pregnant
  • Must be in stable physical and psychological health to ensure patient safety, as well as your own
  • A background check will be conducted

Hospital volunteers

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Canada is a specialized hospital offering volunteer positions in our child life, school, outpatient clinics and public relations departments, as well as opportunities to help greet at reception. Volunteer shifts run Monday through Friday, as well as on weekends.

If you are interested in applying to become a volunteer please email your resume along with a copy of your vaccination booklet and reference letter to our volunteer coordinator Catherine Dubé.

If an appropriate volunteer position is available, you will be contacted for an interview. If no appropriate openings are available when your application is received, we will keep your application on file for three months.
