Visiting a patient

Visiting a patient

NOTE: COVID visitor restrictions are currently in place. Contact a staff member for up-to-date information.

We realize that your presence during your child’s stay at the hospital is very reassuring, so we encourage one parent/guardian to stay at the bedside. We provide a single cot, bed linens and shower facilities for the parent staying. For other family members who would like to stay close to the hospital during your child’s stay, your care manager can answer any questions you may have about housing in the area.

We recognize that each family is unique and we welcome visits by the individuals you designate as family and friends. We do not restrict or deny visitation based on race, color, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Our visiting guidelines balance the needs of the family with the safety of the child. All restrictions are based on keeping the patient safe and preventing the spread of infection.

Visiting hours are 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Inpatient visits

We welcome up to two parents/guardians to be in the patient’s room around the clock. We understand that you may not be able to be here 24 hours a day. Parents/guardians can designate someone over the age of 18 to provide support when unable to be here.

We respect the right of parents/guardians and adult patients to identify who may or may not visit.

  • When you arrive, you will be asked to provide the names of those who will be visiting. Up to 10 names including those staying in the family care unit, can be on the list.
  • Two visitors for ICU patients are permitted at a time in the patient room. All other patients will be allowed visitors based upon your child's needs and condition.
  • A list of visitors you designate will be kept at security.
  • The legal guardian can update the list by noon each day.

All visitors must register at the security/information desk. All visitor requests will be reviewed first with the parent/guardian for approval of visitation. Approved visitors will receive a form of identification for use while in the hospital. If permission to visit is not given by the parent/guardian, or staff cannot contact the parent/guardian, the visitor will not be allowed on the unit and will be instructed to contact the parent/guardian regarding visitation.

Visitors must be healthy with no signs of fever, cold or other contagious illness.

Outpatient visits

You have the right to bring as many support people as you think necessary. The number of visitors who accompany the patient into the exam room may be limited by the size of the room or the clinical care needs of the patient.

Hospital security provides on-site service 24 hours a day.
