Haleh Badkoobehi, M.D., MPH

Haleh Badkoobehi, M.D., MPH

Haleh Badkoobehi, M.D., MPH, is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Shriners for Children Medical Center — Pasadena. Dr. Badkoobehi has an academic appointment at Harbor-UCLA, where she serves as associate program director.

She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor's degree in molecular and systems neuroscience. Following college, she earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. She then attended Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she obtained a master’s degree in public health. Dr. Badkoobehi's research focus was orthopaedic injuries in international conflict zones.

She completed her residency in orthopaedic surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a pediatric orthopaedic surgery fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Dr. Badkoobehi has published multiple peer reviewed research papers and chapters in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

She is dedicated to domestic and international service. She has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children, co-founded an art therapy program at Berkeley’s Women and Children’s Homeless Shelter, and volunteered in multiple other capacities locally.

She has also served internationally in a medical capacity in Cambodia, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is an advocate for child rights, including access to affordable health care. 

Her interests include scoliosis, spinal deformity, neuromuscular disorders, hip, limb deformity and trauma.
