Join us for Rose Parade float decorating

Shriners Hospitals for Children will be participating in the 2019 Pasadena Tournament of Roses® Parade. In less than 30 days, Shriners Hospitals for Children will debut its 2019 Rose Parade float during the famous procession along Colorado Boulevard. For more than a century, this tradition of showcasing seasonal flowers to the entire world has been an exciting event to witness on New Year’s Day.

Decorating a Rose Parade float is truly a unique experience. It is the culmination of a year-long process of concept, design, construction, surfacing and finishing. Floral decoration is the final step in the process of making our creative vision come to life. Float decoration happens on Saturdays in December and goes into overdrive beginning December 26, with decorating taking place 15 hours a day through December 31. The Rose Parade is the largest floral event in the world.

The Shriners Hospitals for Children float is one of several floats that are decorated by volunteers. In 2016 and 2018, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Rose Parade float won the Tournament Volunteers trophy for best design and decoration for floats 35 feet and under. For the 2019 Rose Parade, the Shriners Hospitals for Children entry is 45 feet long, stands 22 feet tall, has 12 riders and 12 outwalkers. If you will be in Pasadena in December, please come help decorate our float, Fezzy’s Garden of Hope and Healing. To volunteer, sign up online.
