New walk-in fracture and sports injury clinic

The newest service available at Shriners for Children Medical Center — Pasadena is the pediatric walk-in fracture and sports injury clinic. Six pediatric orthopaedic surgeons from the medical center staff, including Carlos A. Uquillas, M.D., one of the newest pediatric orthopaedic surgeons to join the team, will be available to provide care to children who have suffered a sports injury. This walk-in clinic is open and available to children 18 and under, Monday through Friday, 8–10 a.m.

Dr. Uquillas specializes in sports medicine, joint preservation and fracture care. He graduated from the Stanford University School of Medicine with a scholarly concentration in clinical research and received a Leland Stanford Junior University Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award. He completed his residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases at New York University Langone Medical Center. While there, he received the Eleanor Kauffman Award for Research in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition to being on the staff of the Pasadena Shriners for Children Medical Center, Dr. Uquillas is a team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was previously an orthopaedic consultant to the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Sparks and Loyola Marymount University.
