Welcoming Andre Panossian, M.D., FACS, FAAP, to Shriners for Children Medical Center in Pasadena

Andre Panossian, M.D., FACS, FAAP, is one of the newest members to join our medical staff at the Shriners for Children Medical Center in Pasadena. Dr. Panossian is a highly skilled plastic and reconstructive surgeon, and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

After graduating from UCLA, Dr. Panossian went on to complete his medical school training at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Through four years of research, Dr. Panossian helped develop some of the current concepts that are used today in cartilage and bone engineering, with applications in stem cell research.

Education has remained a top priority for Dr. Panossian so that he may deliver up-to-date and cutting-edge solutions to his patients. Upon graduating from medical school, he went on to complete a highly selective plastic surgery residency at the University of Southern California and followed with additional subspecialty training in craniofacial surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and Harvard Medical School. He then traveled to France in order to further refine several reconstructive techniques.

After completing his training, Dr. Panossian returned to California to join the division of plastic surgery at the University of Southern California, where he participated in the teaching of plastic surgery residents and medical students. While there, he established the Facial Paralysis Center for individuals suffering from facial nerve disorders and has performed facial reanimation surgery for hundreds of patients. Dr. Panossian also helped establish the Vascular Anomalies Center at USC that oversees the care of individuals dealing with complex vascular birthmarks and malformations.

Dr. Panossian is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the highly selective American Association of Plastic Surgeons, reserved for only a select group of individuals nationally who have demonstrated excellence in academic plastic surgery. He also holds memberships in several other professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.

Dr. Panossian is also affiliated with charitable and educational organizations, including Operation Smile and Mending Kids. He has been featured as a “Top Doc” in Pasadena Magazine and served as an expert medical consultant for The Doctors, Grey’s Anatomy and Nip/Tuck. Dr. Panossian has been nominated by his peers annually since 2012 as a Los Angeles “Super Doctor.”
