Shriners Hospitals for Children Ambulatory Clinic — Tijuana, previously known as “La Casita,” is a specialty ambulatory clinic providing comprehensive medical and surgical care to children up to age 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burn scars, and cleft lip and palate. Patients receive all services in a family-centered environment, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.
The first Tijuana outreach clinic was held on June 6, 1998, at Hospital de las California – Tijuana, where over 360 children were seen. Thanks to the collaboration of the physicians and staff, this Tijuana outreach clinic was conducted six times a year (one-day clinics), with approximately 200 children being seen each time. The outreach clinics continued at HIC until 2012. In 2012 Shriners Hospitals for Children — Los Angeles decided to open a clinic in Tijuana adjacent to HIC to help treat children in Mexico that had no access to care, but since the opening of our small but mighty clinic at HIC Tijuana, the needs of our patients have grown, and the building no longer fits how we deliver care.
Our clinic at La Casita HIC has moved to Hospitales Angeles – Tijuana, but don’t worry, who we are is not changing. Shriners Hosptials for Children Ambulatory Clinic — Tijuana will be located on the fifth floor of Hospital Angeles. Shriners Hospitals for Children patients having surgeries that require overnight hospital stays will be treated at Hosptial Angeles, located just floors away from our new clinic. Our Shriners Hosptials for Children Ambulatory Clinic physicians perform these procedures and provide all pre-surgical and follow-up care. Hospital Angeles is Mexico’s most recognized and trusted medical institution for over 40 years. Hospital Angeles Tijuana is built on the highest principles of medical care and patient hospitality.
