Patient donates $10,000 from family golf tournament

On the cusp of another spine surgery, Aubree donates funds back to the hospital

Aubree has been a patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children since she was 2 years old. Now 11 years old and on the cusp of another surgery to adjust her scoliosis, Aubree wanted to give back to the hospital that has provided her such quality care.

For the last four years, Aubree and her family have hosted a golf tournament in their native Massachusetts, with all proceeds benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children — Philadelphia. Aubree and her family worked hard to secure auction items and baskets to raffle to contribute to their fundraising. This year, they raised $10,000 and Aubree presented a check to our nursing staff during her pre-operative care, before her spinal fusion surgery last month.

“My mom said the stuff they put in my back was really expensive,” said Aubree, acknowledging that our care is provided regardless of a families' ability to pay. “So I wanted to give back to the hospital,” she said. She is already helping her family to plan next year's fundraiser.
