Patient Ambassador Program

Patient Ambassador Program

What is a patient ambassador?

A patient ambassador is a past or present patient, or family member, who supports the Shriners Hospitals for Children mission through compassion, philanthropy and advocacy.

Patient ambassadors are volunteers who serve as positive role models in their communities; share their personal experience with others; and promote the specialized, family-centered care provided by the compassionate staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Because of your personal experience, you are one of our most invaluable resources to raise awareness about Shriners Hospitals for Children and Shriners International.

As a patient ambassador, you have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Community outreach programs
  • Media interviews
  • Fundraisers
  • Hospital events
  • A pen pal program
  • The Ambassador Speakers’ Bureau

How to become a patient ambassador

Filling out an application for the patient ambassador program is the first step.

The application will include questions about your areas of interest and personal experience to help us match you to the appropriate patient ambassador opportunity.
After completing and submitting the simple application, we will send you an informational toolkit that will explain everything you need to know to get started. And, as soon as we have an opportunity available, we will call you!

The program is designed to create a strong bond between Shriners and patient families, networking between patient ambassadors, and to create a sense of responsibility and spirit of volunteerism among patients.
