Food services

Food services

We strive to provide various options for meals, snacks and beverages to our patients, families and visitors. Our cafeteria staff works with registered dietitians to prepare a menu that includes wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced foods vital to treatment and recovery.


Our cafeteria is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and is open to our patients and families. Snacks, beverages, sandwiches, salads and desserts are available throughout the day at reasonable prices. For your convenience, vending machines are also available 24/7 in the seating area of the cafeteria.

Breakfast 7 a.m.–9:30 a.m.
Hot lunch 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Soup, salad & sandwich bar 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Dinner 5 p.m.–6 p.m.


Weekend hours vary depending on hospital census. See cafeteria staff for current hours.

Coffee and tea

Our cafeteria staff makes excellent espresso drinks for reasonable prices at the Shrine Grind! The Shrine Grind is located in the cafeteria.

Drip coffee and tea are available to you at no cost; however, donations are accepted.


Our cafeteria currently accepts cash, check and debit card payments. We do not accept credit card payments at this time. An ATM is located near the vending machines in the cafeteria. If your length of stay is extended, you may also purchase a food service debit card. Ask any cafeteria staff member for details.

Inpatient meals

Inpatient meals are provided in a “room service” style, allowing you/your child to make personal selections. Room service is available 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Patient dinner on Saturday and Sunday is a boxed meal that includes a sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and a beverage.

If you or your child have special dietary needs, please ask to speak with our registered dietitian.

Other food service options

The Portland Shriners Hospital is adjacent to Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). OHSU has several food and beverage options, including Starbucks and several cafeterias. You can find information about OHSU's food offerings on their website or by inquiring at the nurses' station in the inpatient unit.

The OHSU Farmers Market runs on Tuesdays, June through September.
