Congratulations to Harlan, Employee of the Quarter!

Congratulations to Harlan, Employee of the Quarter!

Congratulations to Harlan for being recognized as Employee of the Quarter at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland! Harlan was hired to work in the media services department at the hospital in 1999, and since then his role has expanded to include photography, video editing and graphic design. In Harlan’s nominations for this recognition, his colleagues state that he is always willing to go the extra mile to help with events, projects and patient photos. Over the years, Harlan has seen his department transition and change, and he has always adapted and remains committed to the vision, mission and values of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland.

“Harlan has a high level of knowledge in the areas of graphic design, video production and photography, and has a great attention to detail,” said Harlan’s manager, Carl. “He aspires to provide the highest quality and most efficient services to our patients and staff.”

Harlan worked in broadcast TV for a decade before joining the team at the Portland Shriners Hospital. “The news can be full of really negative stories,” said Harlan. “I was excited to join the team here because of the positive mission and cool environment. I might not provide direct patient care, but I do work that helps others do good things for kids, and not a lot of people can say that!”

Outside of work, Harlan enjoys spending time with his family, doing remodeling projects around his house, and sometimes playing the drums. “I played the drums in high school, and now my son is trying to learn,” said Harlan. “Other than that, I spend a lot of time shuttling my kids around!”

Thank you Harlan for all that you do!
