Here for You

Here for You

Dear patients and families of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland,

It our mission to care for children, and we appreciate the trust you place in us, now more than ever. The health and safety of our patients and employees remain our top priority.

COVID-19 has presented challenges. We’re proud that we’ve been able to keep our doors open, serving our patients’ urgent needs and performing critical surgeries. Now, following the guidance of local and national public health and government recommendations, we are working to create a new normal.

Safety first

To protect the health of patients, families and employees, we have adopted several measures. For now, our hospital is operating at a reduced capacity. A thorough screening process for staff and patients includes taking temperatures and asking questions about symptoms you may be experiencing, recent travel and possible exposure to the virus. The Portland Shriners Hospital is requiring face coverings at all times on the premises for anyone over the age of 2.

We are proud of our commitment to family-centered care. For now, however, that will look a little different. Patients should be accompanied to their appointments by no more than two parents/guardians. We regret that we cannot allow siblings into our facility at this time, and we urge parents to make childcare arrangements for siblings in advance of your visit.

Your appointment

As a reminder, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland doesn’t treat COVID-19. If your child is experiencing possible coronavirus symptoms, please contact your pediatrician for instructions.

We remain focused on providing your child’s specialty medical care. Our staff has been working to contact families directly to discuss scheduling options. New and established patients are also welcome to contact us directly at 503-221-3422 to request an appointment.

We recognize that some families will feel more comfortable continuing to quarantine at home or limit travel. We’re pleased to offer a telehealth option called Fast Track Video Visits. Ask your provider if telehealth appointments might be the right choice for your family.

Now more than ever, we are committed to our mission to provide care regardless of families’ ability to pay. Feel free to ask for information anytime during your visit or throughout the billing process.

Here for you

COVID-19 has changed how we do some things. But we are still here, providing the most amazing care anywhere. We are inspired by the resilience our patients and families display, and we continue to pursue our mission of improving the lives of children.

At Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland, patients and staff are a family. It is a privilege for us to provide care for children, and we want you to know, now and always, we are here for you.
