Michael Matson, M.D.

Michael Dean Matson, M.D., is staff anesthesiologist for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. Dr. Matson's extensive anesthesiology experience also includes positions as assistant chief and chief of anesthesia service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

While serving in the military, Dr. Matson was a staff pediatrician at the 121 Evacuation Hospital in Seoul, South Korea and at the U.S. Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado. He completed a second residency in anesthesiology at Brooke Army Medical Center and served as chief anesthesiologist at the U.S. Army Field Hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Matson earned his Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Ohio State University before pursuing a career in medicine.
