Dancing Spirit Queen gives back to her community

Baylee, prosthetist working on her prosthesisA patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California since she was 1, Baylee, now 7, has been fitted for several prostheses over the years. During a recent appointment with prosthetist Eric Smith, Baylee demonstrated her love of dancing as she tried out her new leg.

In addition to "kicking up her heels," Baylee shared a packet of photographs and news clippings. Crowned 2017 Mini-Miss California HeartShine Spirit Queen, Baylee's accomplishments and all the things she does to help others in her community have been reported in her hometown. Her many acts of kindness include delivering books to hospitalized children, collecting hand sanitizer to send to our troops and delivering donuts to local firefighters as a gesture of thanks.

"Baylee truly has a shining heart! Even as she had her own setbacks this year with a very difficult prosthetic fit, she continued to look and reach outward with empathy for those with small and large challenges in life," said Smith.
